Policies shaped by lived experience

“I realised that politics is not reserved for a select few.”

A teacher with no political background, Jess Teesdale MP initially doubted she was “the right person” to run - until attending Women for Election's EQUIP training, where she gained clarity, practical campaign skills and the encouragement to step forward.

Within months, she went from participant, to candidate, to being elected as the Federal Member for Bass. Jess’s story is a powerful example of how Women for Election equips everyday women with the confidence and capability to run, win and lead.

Over the last two years, Women for Election has doubled our work to support First Nations women and women from multicultural communities to see themselves as future political leaders.

Our First Nations training partner, Turnstone Collective, has delivered dedicated workshops for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island women across five states and territories.

Our dedicated multicultural workshops, designed and facilitated by multicultural women with political experience, launched in 2026.
