PEER MENTORING FOR CANDIDATES PROGRAM
Are you planning to run for an upcoming local, state or federal election? Or maybe you’re supporting another woman in her campaign?
Either way, we know that having access to political experts whose applied experience you can learn from is critical to running a successful campaign.
Enter the Peer Mentoring for Candidates program, which is delivered by the Australian Local Government Women’s Association (ALGWA), who bring more than 70 years of experience supporting women in politics. This program is being delivered with the support of Women for Election and funding from the Commonwealth Government as part of the ‘Women in Public Office’ program.
Excitingly, the program is now open to ALL women who are running for public office or supporting another woman on her campaign. As with all programs supported with Women for Election, Peer Mentoring for Candidates is politically neutral – we encourage women of all political backgrounds and political persuasions to consider signing up.

What does the Peer Mentoring for Candidates program involve?
Peer Mentoring programs are being run regularly. Each mentoring ‘cycle’ runs for two weeks, with a 2-hour per week time commitment. You will be paired with an experienced, female campaigner and a small cohort of fellow mentees.

These programs are usually run ahead of key local, state and federal elections – to help ensure you’re #ReadyToRun. Dedicated programs for First Nations women and Cultural and Racially Marginalised (CARM) women are also in the works. 2
