Women for Election In Conversation with Karen Porter :: 1 July 2020
Women for Election Australia are inviting you to our online In Conversation series, hosted by Licia Heath. Our guest is Karen Porter, Independant Candidate in the Eden-Monaro by-election.
Karen Porter has worked for 22 years in both Local and Federal Government and is running as an Independent in the Eden-Monaro by-election. Karen has been a business owner for 14 years and was named the Canberra Business Woman of the Year in 2015. Until recently she was a Board Director of the Master Builders Association and is the President of Bredbo Progress Association.
Make sure you register to learn from Karen’s experience of signing up with a newly established party, running for a Federal seat for the first time and what it’s like running in a byelections versus a general election.
In 2019 and 2020 Karen was a judge in the State Finals of both the Telstra Business Womens Awards and the Telstra Business awards. She said that this was to “pay forward” to other businesses and women.
Karen continues to be the sole Director of her construction business and has managed to employ three of her five children in key roles within the company. You can read more about Karen here.
